Hydration
A surprising fact to many is that water may comprise up to 75% of our body weight. That is a lot of water! Drinking adequate amounts of filtered water – the rule of thumb is half your body weight in ounces of water daily – not only provides hydration to the skin and to the entire body on a cellular level, but it helps eliminate toxins by improving lymphatic drainage, assuring proper kidney function and by facilitating daily bowel movements. For example, anything less than one bowel movement daily is considered constipation which, in and of itself, can be a sign of a dehydrated intestinal tract. When the gut is compromised, so is the skin.
